Tarun is a wildlife photographer. Until recently he was a partner at World of Wild, and before that he spent his working life in Indian forests with a camera rather than a clipboard.
WYLD exists because of a gap he kept running into. The Indian market sells wildlife travel on sightings: how many tigers, how many parks, how many days. That is a perfectly good product, and it is not the one a photographer needs. A photographer needs to stay when the light is coming, leave when it is not, and be told plainly why a frame failed.
So the company is built around the seat rather than the itinerary. He leads every departure himself, carries a camera on every drive, and runs the review each evening. When the calendar fills, the answer is a waitlist, not a bigger vehicle.Provisional

Six guests, not sixteen.
A vehicle of six has six clear lines of sight. A vehicle of ten has ten people negotiating for four good ones, and the negotiation happens in the exact minute the animal does something.
It also changes what the leader can do. With six, the vehicle can be positioned for light rather than for consensus — which sometimes means driving past a tiger and waiting three hundred metres further on. That decision is impossible to explain to sixteen people, and easy to explain to six.
The evening review is the other reason. Reading six sets of cards properly takes two hours. Reading sixteen takes an evening nobody has, so it quietly becomes a slideshow with compliments in it.
The group size is not a luxury feature. It is what makes the teaching possible at all.

How we behave around animals.
These are working rules, not a policy document. They cost sightings, and we keep them anyway.
- 01No baiting, no calls, no playback. Ever, for any species.
- 02On the track, in the zone, within the permit. No off-road pursuit for a better angle.
- 03If an animal changes its behaviour because of us, we have already made a mistake. We back off before it does.
- 04Engines off at a sighting. Voices down. No one stands up in the vehicle.
- 05Den sites, kills and cubs get more distance than the rules require, not less.
- 06Locations of denning big cats are not published, tagged or geotagged.
The trade is straightforward: a strict vehicle gets fewer frames per week and better ones, because a relaxed animal does something worth photographing and a pressured animal leaves.
